Sheffield City of Languages might be new, but it draws on a long and vibrant history of languages, heritage, and multilingualism in the city. We held a logo competition to find a logo that represents Sheffield's multilingual and multicultural heritage. Two people very well known in the world of multilingualism, Vicky Gough from the British Council and Steven Fawkes, Trustee and Fellow at the Association for Language Learning helped us choose the winners, and we have two of them! We are delighted to announce our joint winners, Sophie Taylor and Rose Bambrough, both 12 years old, and both from Meadowhead School. Sophie and Rose submitted individual entries, and we loved Sophie's colourful writing and Rose's clean graphic logo, which centres Sheffield and connects it to the rest of the world, so we asked them whether we might combine their two ideas, and they agreed! As well as our two winners, we have a few highly recommended entries, so for the full list, see below.
